40 museums in 1 night?
Drinking French wine in a church(!) in the centre of Red Light District during museumnacht, celebrating Chinease New Year in February, taking part in Amnesty International action while visiting Anne Franks' museum, exploring x-mas market in Brussels or feasting 2nd largest carnaval in Europe in Maastricht are just a small piece of what I experienced in last 3 months in the Netherlands. Incredible and uplifting is the fact that every of mentioned activity was spent with a bunch of amazing people from different corners of the world.I believe that only at least a few months stay in any country you pick can uncover the best of a land and its culture. To get opportunity to meet local people, make genuine friendships, tackle with domestic bureaucracy:), learn to speak in their language (in order to e.g. get tax-claim-form from Tax Authorities:) Amsterdam is an uniqe capital...international in terms of its inhabitants (over 170 different nationalities inhaibiting it! as guidebooks say), worldwide events held here, home for worldwide famous artists...but when living here for half a year already it also appears to be "a village" where you pass by familiar faces in the street, pop into some cozy cafe after work or meet up your friends during lunch break in famous Concert Gebouw
for classical music concert. Of course there are also "dark sides" of living in Amsterdam - Too many parties opportunities plus common mean of transport (bike) results sometimes in awful bruises;) And there is always a hussle when looking for a doctor then...you will get lost without efficient networking here, thanks to which I have already 2 doctors:) Job in itself (all in all this is what I came here for!:) provides me with lot's of challenges almost every day, mainly because of re-building of office structure. That requires quick adjusting to new conditions. And in a few days I'm gonna attend one of AIESEC conference in Groeningen where I am supposed to give presentation about my internship to 50 companies and actually promote YOU – dearest students so that Dutch companies may hire you!It has never crossed my mind before this internship how enjoyable might be every day! Thrilling anticipation of upcoming day, gratitude for everything that is brought to you and this confidence that your life will never be the same again...
