Every year current Member Committee in Poland organize conference for new Local Committees Executive Boards. This time we (Magdalena, Antek, Damian, Dominika, Katarzyna, Piotrek B and Piotrek O.) were chosen by you (members) to have this unforgettable experience. We called ourselves “Challenge Hunters” because of from the beginning our preparing to the next term we have to cope with a lot of obstacles and difficulties...
It was the same during our first common conference...

Our journey to Ślesin, where the conference took place, wasn’t easy as we thought. Our first challenge was overcome problems with getting to venue. At 1 am. when we arrived to Konin we received information from OC that our possible transport to Delfin will not came for us. We had to sleep in railway station, which wasn’t nice after 5 hours spent in trains. When we arrived to venue we were angry, tired and sleepy. We thought that we will never forgive OC for that waiting. Next days of conference caused that our opinion about OC changed from anger to love:).We spent funny and nicely time with OC during MultiTO.

MultiTo had the intention to bring knowledge about AIESEC in national and international perspective, building common understanding the role of each person in executive board and empowering to achieving goals, however integration between Committees was important too.

First day of conference took into our heads (especially in male part of EB Kielce) that AIESEC in Poland is managed by women-kind. Only few Committees has similar structure as LC Kielce. But it isn’t problem, because all EB members are strong people who know what they want to achieve.

As we know AIESEC’ers confess some rules, one says: “work hard, play harder”. I have to admit that we executed it 100% :)

During sessions we had the opportunity to gain and share knowledge between different LC’s. We received learning beginning from part which helped us to improve our soft skills, about our roles in LC, we got information’s how manage it, ending on AIESEC History

On sessions we were active: we asked when we didn’t knew something or we were giving answers on questions, after sessions we were talking with others about reality in theirs and ours committee. Our activity didn’t finished on sessions, we saved energy for parties too. Some of you know why we were called Cactuses on MultiTo, for those who don’t know I will explain:
When we were preparing to conference we decided to challenge ourselves, and we made up our minds to dress up on every party in different clothes then others:)...

First party was under the name Western Movies. We concluded that all people will be dressed in cowboys or cowgirls so we started thinking what other things are connected with Wild West. Damian hit on idea that it could be an cactus, we decided to do this. Our dressing appear big success during the party. Thus now You know how the history of Cactuses come from.

.

On the each conference one person is very crucial, in AIESEC we called such person as a “chair”. Now I want say something about person who was responsible for opening and closing plenary. It was Anastasia Gulyavina President of Member Committee Russia 2007/08. I have to admit that Anastasia breeze through in our opinion. She shared with us her experience and thoughts about meaning of leadership and what in our life is important. She was very inspirer.

It will be shamed for us if we didn’t mention about people who were responsible for delivering to us knowledge. The FACI Team who was consisted of actual Member Committee of Poland 2007/08 with a leading person Maria Długosz and two guests from AIESEC International: Abishek and Ivan Lopez Global Network Central and Eastern Europe Director.

Their preparation and personal commitment into the conference deserve only for two words: Thank You:)

This conference wasn’t without OC, who consists from LC Wrocław AE members. As I said on the beginning we were angry on them when we arrived to the conference. After this one incident cooperation with them became only pleasure. Other things like venue, food, atmosphere was great. "There's nothing but for dirt, dust, forbidding landscape, dangerous Muslims waiting to screw on you (...) I will never visit this place!" - I said exactly 1 year ago having watched famous "Babel" movie, and believe me or not...I was very serious at that point and spooked out. And very wrong as well as I found out just recently. Thanks God.

I'm not going to elaborate on these all marvelous places I saw, naming them which you won't remember unless you go there and feel this country with all your senses. Speaking of...I've never could expect how nice Casablanca can smell! The rest of country, towns...everything is clean, tidy but still unspoilt and not commercialised yet (exception – Marrakesh:/ ) Morocco offers the best of Africa – palmeries, real desert, mountains, ocean – and still maintains its middle eastern character.

There are hundreds of things that amazed me there, like this 2 young Berber boys that acted as our "guides" or rather shadows of them providing us with all interesting info on their villages, culture in a mix-language: Arabic/Berber/French/a bit of English, or another old man from Ait Benhaddu who unselfishly was telling us the history of his village hidden in Atlas and afterwards invited us to his home for traditional meal with all his family. We didn't even dare to take a picture of that special moment... Hmm...delicious tajine – eaten from 1! plate with your hands only. Or this brave Canadian-Hungarian couple of globetrotters who gave us a lift in the middle of nowhere;) 3h of squeezing in the back of their car with our huge backpacks on our knees wasn't the most desired journey you could have but I'm grateful to meet this people and for being inspired to see more....experience more...and don't be afraid until you try it.
Sleeping in a desert was also something outrageous what we didn't include in our plan. Another surprise: instead of going to the desert with the caravan and some other tourists...there are only 3 of us plus 1 local guy who eventually prepares great dinner in the evening, Berber tea (from a well in the desert! I was to avoid that but didn't work....yikes:/, and set a bonfire...Then we're sleeping under a tent made of camel wool, covered with only 2 sheep-wooled blankets while outside (in a tent all in all) is around 5C...I slept like a baby;) Everything in close neighborhood of Algeria (not recommended to go there though). The trip also built up my negotiating skills;)

Dealing with arranging transport, hotels, buying food, souvenirs required patience, wit and cunning. Telling people that you are from Eastern Europe was also very helpful (and my dearest Belgium friend was converted into Romanian or Polish during any negotiations;)

Oh, yes, I brought some pretty snaps from this journey (as attached) but the best ones have been imprinted in my mind, as even the best camera can capture neither the beauty of this land nor its inhabitants' behaviours. How can you show on a picture a fusion of smells of Casablanca with post-colonial buildings breathing history of French domination times?...how to present the taste of fresh, juicy oranges and crunchy bread served by friendly Moroccans? How to catch a sound of electrifying Muslim prayers coming to your room from a mosque at 6 in the morning? Is there a way to express and measure my thankfulness to people that helped us, advised, guided there? But also! To my companions – Laurence & Oana who made this journey unforgettable experience.

If you visit Morocco some day in your life you may get different image of it – yes, you may be disappointed, scared, neutral to what you see, or annoyed by intrusiveness of local salesmen – it's up to your perception that you are developing every minute of your life. I had a luck to learn this through AIESEC and everything that happened as a consequence of it.

Here's some facts of the trip:

*time of overall trip's planning – 2h...2 days before leaving

*number of visited places – 9 through the whole Morocco

*number of attendees: 3...girls which makes everything a bit more difficult (challenging;)

*mean of transport: couches, local buses, minibus, petite & grand taxis (cheap!), camels, lorries, hitch-hiking etc

*accommodation, transport arranged on the spot

AIESEC General Presentation

One by one we train people.:)

Hi AIESECers in Kielce:),

I want to share with You my last experience. I spend four, really incredible days with only twenty four people from different cities, who has different experiences in AIESEC. They were members of EB, OCPs and OCs.

But.. Why it was incredible time??

I had opportunity to learn how to prepare good training, how to provide proper knowledge for participants of trainings, how to present myself as a good trainer… We, it means delegates this conference, we had a lot of exercises, we had to talk before the camera – it was horrible because I hate camerasL…. What is more? During conference we gave feedback each other and we expand our presentations skills, we get to know more about ourselves…

The conference was start with words “One by one we will train the people”,
all delegates finish them with words “ One by one WE TRAIN PEOPLE”. During last day of conference everyone has opportunity to lead own trainings using knowledge which was provided for us. We were assessing during it and we got
a good feedback. The small count of delegates was enough to creating great conference’s atmosphereJ

For me this conference is worthly because of my personal discoverment… I could see in what way good trainer can be a guide for people… how to run training
to cause inspiration among participants. I could see how to engage people to show and develop their excellence… and use new knowledge in practice, how
to involve people to act – “ I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I experience and I understand” I have one conclusion after TtT conference that great trainer is not a teacher but the inspired leader…J I wish to met you great trainers and
I want to encourage you to try such experience ...I hope you are motivate to take new challenges in every day of your life…

All the best:)

Magdalena

P.S.

If you want to know more details be free ask me…;)

40 museums in 1 night?

Drinking French wine in a church(!) in the centre of Red Light District during museumnacht, celebrating Chinease New Year in February, taking part in Amnesty International action while visiting Anne Franks' museum, exploring x-mas market in Brussels or feasting 2nd largest carnaval in Europe in Maastricht are just a small piece of what I experienced in last 3 months in the Netherlands. Incredible and uplifting is the fact that every of mentioned activity was spent with a bunch of amazing people from different corners of the world.I believe that only at least a few months stay in any country you pick can uncover the best of a land and its culture. To get opportunity to meet local people, make genuine friendships, tackle with domestic bureaucracy:), learn to speak in their language (in order to e.g. get tax-claim-form from Tax Authorities:) Amsterdam is an uniqe capital...international in terms of its inhabitants (over 170 different nationalities inhaibiting it! as guidebooks say), worldwide events held here, home for worldwide famous artists...but when living here for half a year already it also appears to be "a village" where you pass by familiar faces in the street, pop into some cozy cafe after work or meet up your friends during lunch break in famous Concert Gebouw

for classical music concert. Of course there are also "dark sides" of living in Amsterdam - Too many parties opportunities plus common mean of transport (bike) results sometimes in awful bruises;) And there is always a hussle when looking for a doctor then...you will get lost without efficient networking here, thanks to which I have already 2 doctors:) Job in itself (all in all this is what I came here for!:) provides me with lot's of challenges almost every day, mainly because of re-building of office structure. That requires quick adjusting to new conditions. And in a few days I'm gonna attend one of AIESEC conference in Groeningen where I am supposed to give presentation about my internship to 50 companies and actually promote YOU – dearest students so that Dutch companies may hire you!It has never crossed my mind before this internship how enjoyable might be every day! Thrilling anticipation of upcoming day, gratitude for everything that is brought to you and this confidence that your life will never be the same again...

My last word in that post as promised previously is to be in Dutch!:p yeah, yeah, let's boast a little – De volgende post is over mijn uitstapje naar mousseline land waar ik met twee mooi mensjes gaan. And what is the most important - during this event the next leadership team will be elected. We chose Patryk Statkiewicz for President AIESEC In Poland, who actually is Vice President External Relations. We also gave vote of trust for candidates for Vice Presidents in next term. Those people are: Agnieszka Cebulska, Chwalisława Waligóra, Elżbieta Banasiak, Anna Jutkiewicz, Kamila Orłowska, Joanna Tomkiewicz. General Assembly was full of emotions in those moments when each candidate that entered the plenary in our applauses and yell, to present own vision in front of the National Plenary and to express own dream and plans toward the year of AIESEC in Poland. It is incredible experience for self development. During last day New President Elect opened second round of application for Vice President position. After this conference our President of AIESEC Poland Local Committee Kielce Anna Szymkiewicz decide to run for member committee position AIESEC in Poland . We are very glad because of that decision and we wish her success.

Happy New Year 2008

1200 km from home...

Here we go...

It passed 2 months since my arrival to Amsterdam – the european
cosmopolitan capital to spend 10 months on AIESEC internship.
Everything happened so fast – (except from my matching proccess) –
decision of coming here, 2 weeks of preparations and after 1,5h flight
I'm standing in front my temporary apartment –rather English - looking
building in the outskirts of Amsterdam. 2 hours later I'm sightseeing
the city on my own:) Each of you probably has some idea of Holland:
lowland landscape (even a new A8 in Poland won't be as flat as ground

here is:),hundreds of canals – more than in Venice!, array of cheese,
streets cluttered with bikes (usually rubbish ones like mine:),
homeland of VanGough and Rembrandt…legal soft drugs…oh! And the nation
of the tallest people in the world:)
So what was my first impressions about the Netherlands? Great
hospitality, open-mindness and kindliness of which I found out just on
the first day of coming to Amstee.
I got a job in a medium-sized company which operates on world-wide
scale. Good points of working here are independent character of my job
position which still requires strong liaison with the rest of my team.
Never before I had to learn so fast how to wisely manage my work time,
coordinate many tasks in parallel and not to go crazy.

And after 5.30 P.M my private life is about to start! As living in De
Eenhorn – brand new housbuilding in the citycentre I got a chance to
meet lots of people, not only @ers but also Dutch and international
students. This won't make you bored even for one single day! Your
neighbours will look after you whether you're ill, repair your crappy
bike till 22.00 on Saturday evening…sipping some French wine and
chatting at the same time, or put you up a few nights while you locked
yourself out of your room (this damn burglar-proof door:/
So far I actively spend my every weekend – following Dutch lifestyle
– I cycle a lot, canoeing through gorgeous lakes in the south of
A'dam, exploring Texel island or just strolling along sands in spa –
Scheveningen at the North Sea. Yeah…and the city offers dizzying
number of restaurants, pubs, clubs in itself also…I still have
numerous stories to tell you…I promise this is not my last post
here:)Maybe next time I'll be able to say a few words in Dutch already
as I've just signed up for the course – 9h per week…exhausting. It's
too early to make any summary of my trainship but I can already feel
that it's been the most fruitful and intensive period of my life so
far! If you ever happen to get this incredible opportunity – go for
it! There's nothing worse then regret missed chance. Groetjes!

Podczas tych kilku godzin każdy z członków zespołu miał wiele odczuć i emocji. W jednych grupach panował śmiech i zabawa, drugie ciężko pracowały by zrobić zadania, które zostały im powierzone.

Każdy miał możliwość powiedzenia o swoich obawach i odczuciach jakie żywił do innych członków zespołu.

Almost 90 hours 60 people at one places worked to become one team. The last night was especially for us, because we had the chance to be a success in unexpected situations. Participants were divided into small groups, they looked for some clues, carried out a tasks, which provide theirs to a one place. Each of team had only one torch, that’s why everyone got about in close group and everyone had to depend on others team members. Besides specific character of task demanded that everybody should cooperate.

Night game in “Podchody”, it was the time when each of us had the chance to be a success and discovered how he will behave in danger situation f. ex.: when team has got lost at dark forest. There were people, who felt great , as well as people who felt not comfortable in extreme conditions.

During that several hours, each of team members had a lot of reflections and emotions. In some groups reigned laugh and fun, other worked very hard to make a task, which was entrusted them. All groups tried to achieve one’s goal - the ruins of a castle and mutual aid and team cooperation in spite of different adversity.

At the end of the day(actually at night ) we came back to hostel – that was the reflection time, when we could exchange impression. Each of us had opportunity to talk about fear and positive or negative sentiment towards other team member. In the evening meeting we could got to know how other member perceive each other and what is the inspiration for them in other team members.

Faci Conference part II

Poznawanie samego siebie poprzez testy osobowości i integracja z członkami konferencji.

Jeszcze trzy szalone, niezapomniane dni spędzimy z tymi fascynującymi osobowościami, potrafiącymi inspirować innych i siebie wzajemnie.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Many well knowing faces and conversations without end. We are compare opinions, which are different.

We discover ourselves by using surveys of personalities and integration with delegates of conference - in those words we can describe first day of our conference. It takes place in Chęciny, near Kielce. Some of persons we host second time. One of them is Małgorzata Gosiaczek Kosieradzka, who was chairing our local motivation conference in May. Her personality like usual gives delegates a lot of energy and of course lovely smile. Every session, training are full of passion and very useful information. We will be here with those inspiriting personalities during three next days.

Faci Conference
